Relating to the Swedish FW 190 an anecdote from ca. 20 years ago. I was at Vantaa museum, were an older gentleman was asking, how to go to the terminal. His flight back to the States was leaving in a few hours. OK, I offered him a ride and during this we had a few minutes to discuss. If I recall correct he was from either at Los Angeles or San Diego. He had worked as an engineer in aviation industry, McD if I recall correct. He was originally an Estonian, who served in the Luftwaffe and in the end of April flow an FW 190F-8 from Berlin area to Sweden. Rebane was his name. I later heard, that he had returned to Estonia for his last years. He past away some years ago.
Jag svarade Kyösti med följande:
He arrived at Malmö/Bullfofta 30 april 1945. After take off from Parchim, N of Berlin, Rebane was involved in a straffing mission. After this did his unit, II.(Sturm.)/J.G. 4, refuel at Wittstock and was to regroup further West. When Rebane t/o - as the last man - he didn't proceed West but turned North. Between Trelleborg and Falsterbo he got company by two SwAF J 22 of F 10 and was escorted to Bulltofta, arrived 12.08 loc. The Fw 190 A-8, White 15, Werk nr. 739136, didn't suffer from any battle damage or likewise and was in good shape. It was stored at Bulltofta for about a year or two and later scrapped.
